Product Review on KCCM

A while back I had submitted a product review to
Kinky Curly Coily Me for CURLS Curl Creme Brulee as an entry for a giveaway. It just posted today at two pm eastern time.
You can check it out here!
The administrator of KCCM, Jenell Stewart aka JenellyBean, is extremely nice, organized, and professional. I'm sure you will enjoy her site just as much as I do! Go check her out if you aren't familiar with KCCM already.

Frustrations

Okay, so lets talk hair frustrations. This has been a pressing issue on my mind for some time now. Especially with my current length. Sometimes it goes away with a simple remedy: co-washing and sport a fro and go. I await when I can do more versatile styles; updos are my fave.
I must admit, single strand knots (SSKs) are the major cause of my hair headaches. I always moisturize well and seal my ends so why they continue to haunt me. Search and destroy is the easiest way for me to relieve myself of them, but unfortunately I cannot carry around a pair of pocket size shears and snip away at them while in class etc.
When I first began my natural journey (I need to find an alternate term because I don't like the analogy, more on that later) I didn't experience this much. I was LOVING my twa. I co-washed my hair about every day, but that was also when the weather was warmer. I may take that back up because this SSK business is NOT the business, hmph. My class schedule is pretty sweet, so since I get up earlier, my hair should be dry before I leave the dormitory to head to class. If not, I'll grab my handy diffuser, turn on the cool switch, and commence to dry my hair.
What frustrations have you experienced along your hair journey? How do you get over them?
Stay blessed. XOXO,
D

2011 Healthy Hair Challenge

Hello all! Happy New Year :-)
The Moptop Maven has a Healthy Hair Challenge for 2011 that I'm participating in. Today I dry detangled with a conditioner mix she recommends: water in your spray bottle and 2-3 squirts of conditioner. I used my Herbal Essences Hello Hydration (HEHH) for my mix and dry detangled. I pre-pood with a mixture of safflower oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. I'm about to wash the mixture out in sections as she suggests. I am following the regimen for wearing your hair loose during the challenge, at least for now because of the length of my hair. I am about to go through with the rest of the my regimen, and I will post the pictures I have taken throughout the process in another post. My current length is a small afro, un-stretched, and my hair goal for the first part of the challenge (Jan-June) is chin length.
Are you prepared for the challenge?
Ciao for now!
xoxo
